South Palm Beach is a small town on a barrier island in Palm Beach County, stretching about five-eighths of a mile along South Ocean Boulevard (State Road A1A), its only street. It is bordered by the town of Palm Beach to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Lake Worth Lagoon to the west, and Manalapan and Lantana's public beach to the south.

First settled in 1948 and incorporated in 1955, the town grew mainly through condominium development, much of it in the early 1970s. Today, real estate is dominated by oceanfront and Intracoastal condominiums, many with direct beach access and ocean or Intracoastal views. A bronze loggerhead sea turtle sculpture, created for the town's 50th anniversary, is a local landmark. Lake Worth Beach, Lantana and Palm Beach are all just minutes away.
