Oakland Park is a city in eastern Broward County, located just north of Fort Lauderdale and next to Wilton Manors. Originally established as Floranada, a blend of "Florida" and "Canada," the community reincorporated in 1929 under the name Oakland Park.
The city's downtown, along Dixie Highway, has been redeveloping as the Culinary Arts District, with restaurants, breweries and shops. Jaco Pastorius Park anchors the district with community events and green space. Its central location puts downtown Fort Lauderdale, the beaches and I-95 within easy reach. Housing includes established single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums, with options in neighborhoods ranging from the downtown area to quieter residential pockets east and west of I-95.
