Lake Clarke Shores is a small residential town in east-central Palm Beach County, located just west of the south end of West Palm Beach, north and west of Lake Worth Beach and east of Palm Springs. The town is named for John Newton Clarke, who filed a homestead claim on the shore of the lake in 1889, and it was incorporated in the 1950s.
Today the town is primarily a bedroom community, with most commercial activity concentrated along Forest Hill Boulevard. Housing consists mainly of single-family homes, including lakefront properties. Residents enjoy several town parks, including Community Park and Boat Ramp Park, and are close to Dreher Park, the Palm Beach Zoo and the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. I-95 runs along the town's eastern edge for easy commutes.
