Hypoluxo is a small town in Palm Beach County, located on the mainland shore of the Lake Worth Lagoon (Intracoastal Waterway) between Lantana and Boynton Beach. Permanently settled in the 1880s and incorporated in 1955, it is known for its connection to the "Barefoot Mailmen," early settlers who carried the mail along the beach to Miami.
The town takes its name from a Seminole name for Lake Worth, and natural areas such as the Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area preserve native Florida habitat. Housing is mainly condominiums and townhomes, some with Intracoastal views, along with a small number of single-family homes. The beaches, Lantana and downtown Lake Worth Beach are close by, and US-1 and I-95 provide easy routes north to West Palm Beach and south to Boca Raton.
